Bermudian actress in online show
Tsilala Brock, a Bermudian actress and singer-songwriter, appears this week in a live online reading of “The Niceties” opposite Amy Brenneman (Judging Amy, Private Practice).
This two-person play, by Eleanor Burgess, is produced by Martha's Vineyard Playhouse (MJ Bruder Munafo, Artistic Director).
Brock will play a young African-American student debating her white college professor, Brenneman, over the complexities of The American Revolution and who gets to decide our history.
The timely discussion set in the last year of Barack Obama’s presidency questions whether the legacy of slavery defines our past and our present.
Tsilala Brock, recently seen in Broadway’s The Book of Mormon 2nd National Tour and Troika Bermuda’s The Color Purple & Beauty and the Beast, will be playing the student, Zoe, in this new online format.
Zoom productions provide a distinct opportunity for actors and audiences, who are stuck at home, a chance to enjoy storytelling with people across the globe.
Directed by Joan Green Breuer, the play will be streamed live on Wednesday, October 28 at 7pm EST; and continue streaming online on October 29, 30 & 31.
Tickets available at mvplayhouse.org for $15.00.
Net proceeds support Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, the Union of Minority Neighborhoods and the Movement Voter Project.
