Cole Simons announces OBA Senate team
The Leader of the Opposition announced a “new and robust Senate team” for the One Bermuda Alliance yesterday.
Cole Simons said Ben Smith will be the Opposition Leader in the Senate, and Shadow Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Community Affairs.
Mr Smith, a former OBA MP, will also hold the National Security and the Cabinet Office portfolios.
Robin Tucker will handle the ministries of labour, home affairs, health, and social development and seniors.
Marcus Jones has been given the shadow portfolios of finance, tourism, transport, public works and legal affairs.
Mr Simons, who was sworn in as Leader of the Opposition yesterday, said the group was “committed to delivering sound policies and values to the Senate, which will help position Bermuda to be in good stead during this Covid-19 era and the rebuilding of our economy”.
He added: “I wish this new Senate team all the very best as they effectively serve Bermuda diligently and with integrity and respect.
“They will not be standing alone as they will be reinforced by the One Bermuda Alliance ministerial subcommittees, who will always be available to listen, and provide support to this team, and the community which they serve.”
Replaced from the previous parliament are Dwayne Robinson and Jarion Richardson, who is now the elected MP for Paget West.
