Final phase of Hamilton roadworks underway
Road users and pedestrians were today warned to use caution on Front Street in Hamilton as work to upgrade traffic junctions enters its final month.
A spokeswoman for the City that upgrades said that upgrades at Bermudiana Road are close to completion.
Work is scheduled to start soon on the sidewalk outside restaurant and store Milan Milan and the Alexandra Mosher Design Studio, as well as at the junctions of Par-la-Ville Road and Point Pleasant Road with Front Street.
She added that temporary traffic lights, road signs and diversions will be used as required.
Charles Waters, the assistant city engineer, said: “We’re on track as we move eastward with the project.
“These upgrades are essential to our infrastructure to ensure a high degree of safety and efficiency in Hamilton.
“The City thanks those merchants and businesses in the affected area for their patience as the works move into their final month of construction.”
The spokeswoman said that any impact to traffic flow during construction should remain minimal.
She added that some parking bays will be affected during the project but priority will be placed on maintaining public parking and reducing pedestrian impact.
