Dave Horan, the Warwick Academy principal, said: “Together we are stronger and over the past 358 years, whether a public or a private school, we have always maintained our public purpose.

“With that in mind this year our focus is on sustainability and flexibility.

“Flexibility has been our strength through the years and most noted during the Covid-19 months of 2020.”

Mr Horan added: “Sustainability is what we strive towards as we continue to provide a world class education.”

The school drafted in Ed Christopher, the Hamilton town crier, to declare the start of the celebrations and pupils were encouraged to wear blue and the school mascot-style bear ears.

Former pupils also joined in the fun and spent the day reliving memories and friendships from their days at the school.

The school also launched their annual Giving Campaign with a week of giving dubbed 1662 Strong and a special website with videos and live event lists.

Mr Horan appealed for donations and said: “Our week of Giving is an opportunity for our alumni, parents, students, staff and friends of Warwick Academy to support our school as we focus on our way forward.”
