New Gaming Commission CEO announced
A “seasoned executive” with more 30 years of experience in the gambling world was today confirmed as the Chief Executive of the Bermuda Casino Gaming Commission.
Jean Major pledged that the commission will develop “a robust regulatory framework” for casino gaming to develop on the Island under his stewardship.
Mr Major, a Canadian national, was chief executive officer and registrar of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario for the last 16 years, which oversees regulation of the gambling, horse racing, liquor and cannabis industries.
He said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with the Board of Commissioners and staff at the commission to establish gaming in Bermuda.
“Working with stakeholders, we will develop and implement a robust regulatory framework that balances social responsibility and economic development to benefit the people of Bermuda.”
Cheryl Ann Mapp, the gaming commission’s chairman, said that the search for a Chief Executive had been “extensive”.
“The Commission is pleased to have someone of Mr. Major’s experience and calibre leading the Commission.
“The Board of Commissioners looks forward to working with him as he leads the Commission in establishing casino gaming in Bermuda.“
