Flooding shuts off section of Harrington Sound Road

“Severe flooding” at a trenching job on Harrington Sound Road in Hamilton Parish has caused the road to be closed off, the Ministry of Public Works advised.

The closure runs from Rocky Ridge Road to Sommersall Road, and will remain in effect until the source of the flooding is traced. A ministry spokesman said the trench would have to be backfilled and paved.

The section of road will be closed to all except those accessing residential or commercial property.

Detour signs will be placed, and the spokesman urged drivers to take alternative routes.

Traffic will be directed by Belco and ministry staff.

The ministry apologised to drivers, and said any questions should be directed to Jonathan Pedro, the Belco project manager, at 295-5151 extension 1441.

Queries on detour routes should be directed to Tina Beer-Searle, a ministry civil engineer, at 501-3044.
