Charities boosted by spinners
A festive fundraising drive has been launched by a small business focused on giving back to the community.
Streaker’s Spin Studio customers will donate vouchers to Family Centre in time for Christmas.
A spokeswoman said: “Streaker is a small-business owner who thinks it's important to give back to the community.
“To assist the community during this holiday season, Streaker's Spin Studio has partnered with Family Centre to help provide relief to families in need.
“The children's gift needs have already been met, but Family Centre advised that Streaker's Spin Studio clients can support by donating vouchers for the MarketPlace, Gibbons Company and Belco.”
Any cash donations received by the studio will be pooled to buy vouchers.
Voucher donations received at Streaker’s by December 19 are to be handed over to Family Centre on December 21.
The fitness company is run by Dwayne “Streaker” Adams – a former goalkeeper for the Bermuda national football team – and offers exercise classes using stationary bikes.
Streaker's, based on Dundonald Street, made a $250 donation to Sandys Secondary Middle School Parent-Teacher Association earlier this month.
Mr Adams held an event to raise funds that will go towards restoring the school library.
A $250 donation was also made to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre to boost its SunSmart programme, which teaches children about the potentially dangerous effects of sun exposure.
