Emergency work on a collapsed section of Harbour Road is expected to continue until the end of next month, it was revealed yesterday.

A notice from the Ministry of Public Works said that a lane closure for embankment and wall repairs in Warwick will be extended to January 29.

The area around Burnt House Hill and Tamarind Vale will be affected.

An earlier notice from the ministry said the work meant that the westbound lane of Harbour Road was out of use “due to the lane collapsing”.

It said the closure would run until December 18, 2020.

But the latest notice, published in the Official Gazette, confirmed the extension.

It added: “Working hours will continue from 8am to 3pm week days.

The notice said: “Traffic controls will be under direction of the Ministry of Public Works representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals and signage.

“The public is advised to avoid Harbour Road between Burnt House Hill and Tamarind Vale and to use the detour route via Middle Road.

“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full co-operation of the public and apologises for any inconvenience that may result.”
