Royal Bermuda Regiment seeking recruits
The Royal Bermuda Regiment will be out in the community in the coming weeks to connect with residents interested in joining, with recruiting teams focused on St. George’s and Hamilton.
Its push comes ahead of the July 9 to 21 basic soldier training camp.
The regiment is seeking individuals 18 to 52. They must be Bermuda residents.
On Thursday at 6.30pm, an assessment will be held at Warwick Camp. It will involve a physical exam, a fitness test and a short interview.
After basic training, those interested can apply to the coastguard, which is currently seeking to increase its numbers.
Major Preston Gill, Officer Commanding Training Wing, said: “If anyone is interested or has been thinking about the Regiment, now is the time to put your hand up.
“It’s a great opportunity to learn, increase fitness, network — you’re going to make friends for a lifetime.”
Interested parties can call 238-1045 for more information.
The Royal Bermuda Regiment is a reserve force with 350 soldiers and officers, according the Government of Bermuda website. Its two major functions are Military Aid to the Civil Authority and Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief.
