The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute will be offering scholarships for students aged 12 to 14 to attend the weeklong Explorer Camp.

The camp is based on the Young Reporters for the Environment programme, an annual writing, photography and film competition that emphasises reporting on local environmental topics.

The BUEI said the camp will offer “constructive journalism, combining tech with nature, science, and history” with a focus on the ocean and the Earth. This will be done through advertised field trips, guest mentors and hands-on activities.

The YRE scholarships are available for two periods: July 17 to 21 and August 21 to 25. The Explorer Camp will run from 9am to 3pm, with after-camp activities running from 3pm to 5pm.

The scholarships, sponsored by Hanover Re, will cover all camp costs, including any after-camp activities.
