Two cases of the coronavirus were found after airport arrival tests, the Government said today.

The positive tests were among 526 results that came back to health officials yesterday.

A health department spokesman said that the new cases were on a flight from Atlanta on Tuesday.

He added both people had taken pre-departure tests.

The spokesman said: “Case isolation and contact tracing has begun.”

Bermuda has had 226 confirmed cases and 17 are active with none in hospital.

A total of nine people with Covid-19 have died and 200 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

The number of cases from overseas is 113, 92 were on-island transmissions with a known contact and 21 were on-island transmissions with an unknown contact.

Bermuda’s country status remains at “sporadic cases”.

The seven-day average of the island’s real time reproduction number is less than 1.
