Visitors to experience Cup Match up close

Visitors to the island will get a viewing area for the two days of Cup Match complete with refreshments, a taste of Bermuda’s cuisine and an overview of the Annual Classic’s history.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport said the visitors’ camp was the first of its kind it had hosted.

The special seating has been placed near the second gate of Somerset Cricket Club and close to the field for guests to hear and see all the ball-by-ball action.

Owen Darrell, the minister, said the seating area would come with music, engaging commentary and “just an overall relaxed atmosphere”.

“We’re keen foster a deeper understanding of Bermuda’s heritage among our visitors, and what better way to do it than at Cup Match?”

He added: “This will truly enrich the visitor experience and showcase Bermuda’s diverse offerings, so we’re very much looking forward to welcoming our visitors on Thursday and Friday.”
