Teenager injured after collision between bike and van
A teenager suffered serious injuries in a collision with a van on Harrington Sound Road yesterday.
A police spokesman said the collision took place shortly after 1pm near the junction with Broken Hill Road in Smith’s.
“It appears that the motorcycle was being ridden east along Harrington Sound Road and the van was being driven out of a driveway to head west along Harrington Sound Road when the vehicles collided,” the spokesman said.
“The motorcycle rider, now understood to be an 18-year-old St George’s woman, sustained leg and facial injuries.
“She was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment and at last check remained in hospital with injuries that were considered serious but not life-threatening.
“The van driver, said to be a 70-year-old Warwick man, was not hurt.”
Police diverted traffic from the area for about three hours after the collision to process the scene and damaged vehicles.
