Usual suspects missing out is good for football
All I can say is wow! What a Copa America this one had been, both of the firm favourites were dumped out before the semi finals and who would have guessed that Paraguay would battle Uruguay for the title of being the best in South America. For us that like Brazil and Argentina it wasn't a good day at all when they got knocked out, but for the neutrals and for the game itself it is good to have to other teams besides the usual suspects winning the competition. For these two sides, what made it hard to understand was the way in which they went out, especially Brazil who missed all three of their penalties.Neither one of them really got going and deserved to be in the final, they both started slowly, got a few results to deceive their fans and then went pear shaped so it was just that they aren't in the final because they don't deserve to be there.Brazil were experimenting with a younger team and they knew it could go either way for them so no one can complain, but there main goal is to prepare for 2014 which is something that –Argentina are surely doing as well. When you get the two finalists as they are, it is really picture perfect because these two have worked hard to get there and that times are changing with the smaller countries developing better players. It is good for the game to see somebody else in the headlines. It will be difficult to say how the game will pan out, both are strong defensively, the winner will be the team who will be the soundest at the back.Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan are both great players who can cut a team to pieces so Paraguay will need to be wary of their threat and they will need to keep them under wraps.n n nThe Scottish Premier League starts tomorrow and it will be a two horse race again, it always is, and for he past ten years things haven't changed much. The league has always between Celtic and Rangers so I don't think much will change this time around.Even if they get off to slow starts, no one in the league can win consistently enough to make a sustained run at the league.n n nNow, with Cup Match this week I really hope my Somerset have what it takes to get the trophy back.I have red and blue blood and I know we have the ability to win the cup but I also think that they have a good side as well, good enough to win the cup so it should be an interesting game and I am anxious to see how it all transpires.A lot of the players St George's have will pose a tough time for my team and I just hope that we can come out on top.Looking at the side we can bring out, we have the players but we need the players to have belief that they can do the job. The first innings will be crucial because no matter which way it goes, we have to bowl them out twice. If we win the toss we have to get runs on the board and look to get them out cheaply, and if we can do this then it should be an entertaining second day.The hardest thing to do is bowl a team out twice in two days, as it has been proven the past three years, so we shall all see how it works out on the day. At the end of the day we have to get the result and hopefully we can, by any means necessary.
