'Fifty Shades' of ... right on!
‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. So I read this book that women from Los Angeles to Lithuania are talking about and now have some advice to my fellow brothers of manhood! Read it! Don’t get it twisted; I’m no marriage or relationship expert but I will soon be 48 and know a thing or two about the opposite sex. If you wanna test my street credibility on this we can chat privately but for now just read on, especially the bit after the top 20.Holding at #1 is the hot dance track by Chris Brown and Rihanna, Turn Up The Music. This one is a banger. It’s hyped beat is sure to get you going. Improving to #2 it’s Give Me All Your Luvin’ by Madonna featuring Nikki Minaj and MIA. Tumbling to #3 is The Motto by Drake featuring L’il Wayne. Drake has quickly burst onto the scene with a slew of chart toppers.Up to #4 is Glad You Came, by The Wanted, one of the most popular pop/dance tracks on the planet which is being played and heard everywhere. Falling to #5 is Take Care by Rihanna and Drake. Rihanna is everywhere. Improving to #6 is Starships by Nikki Minaj, a former essential new tune.International Love by Pitbull featuring Chris Brown, falls to #7. Slipping to #8 is Someone Like You by Adele. Everybody loves Adele. What’s not to love? Sliding to #9 is Turn Me On by David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj. David Guetta continues to drop hits. Whatever his formula is, it is working.Advancing to #10 this week is Boyfriend by Justin Bieber, the object of desire of young ladies from six to 16. Down to #11 is Rack City by Tyga, one of the hottest rap tracks around and still al banger.Up to #12 is Dance Again by Jennifer Lopez featuring Pitbull. Tumbling to #13 it’s Hangover by Taio Cruz featuring Florida. Taio Cruz continues to drop party songs. It seems like every year he has a hit that gets played all summer long. Falling to #14 is Dance (A$$) by Big Sean featuring Nicki Minaj. On the way up at #15 is former essential new pop tune and one of DJLT’s faves, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen. This is a cute song for anybody that also rocks. Improving to #16 is Wild Ones by Flo Rida featuring Sia, last week’s essential new dance track. Slipping to #17 is a former essential new tune, Stronger, by Kelly Clarkson. Slipping to #18 is Good Feeling by Flo Rida. Now this week’s essential new monster hip hop track. New at #19 is Birthday Cake by Rihanna and her old boo Chris Brown. This track has some raunchy lyrics that fit with the book I’m featuring this week. Just listen to it for yourself. The beat is hot and the track is very catchy.New at #20 is Rihanna’s other hit, Where Have You Been? This seems like Rihanna week in the Bermuda Top 20, fittingly, as she is the hottest artist in the business at the moment. She must have some ten songs currently and constantly in circulation in nightclubs, bars, on radio stations, as music behind commercials. This level of presence is unheard of in recent times; I don’t think even Beyonce has had some ten songs all being popular and played frequently worldwide at the same time. The number of hits that she has amassed in her short career is simply staggering! Her face is constantly on the cover of magazines. Not all of it is flattering chatter but one mustn’t believe everything one reads in tabloids. At the same time some of it is probably true. They say that wherever there is smoke, surely there is a fire somewhere. Not hating; just keeping it real. Rihanna should holla at me for some publicity advice. I could help a sister out.Now back to this week’s topic, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’. I’ve always been a dude who paid attention to females. I routinely read women’s magazines no, not to get in touch with my feminine side, but to find out what nonsense they are putting into my wife’s head! I can profess to having read ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ before my wife read it, so I am ahead of most men in that regard. If your girlfriend, wife, baby mamma or whatever you call her, is somewhat enlightened, a reader, moderately intelligent or God forbid in a book club, I bet you all the money in the world that she knows about, has read or will soon read at least one of the trilogy of erotic romance novels written by British author Erika Leonard, aka EL James. So why should a dude read her books? Well, men have a duty to keep their intimate relationships working, exciting, appealing, etc and we often shirk or fail to fulfill that responsibility. This leaves the women in our lives vulnerable to the advances of others.Men, we need to pay attention. Women’s bodies are different from ours. Most of them like romance novels because they give the long build-up. Most women prefer to let the pot boil as opposed to a quick fix. Most women like to be romanced, wined and dined, before anything else happens. And even if your girl is more like a dude who likes a quick fix, she too will enjoy occasional extended romantic experiences. The worst thing that could come out of reading books like this is that your girl will appreciate that you took time to check out something that might be of interest to her. Also, you may get some ideas of how to switch up and spice up your romance game. Lastly, your girl will be able to brag to her ace girls that her man actually read the book or pays attention to such things that can’t hurt you. You want your girl bragging about you, for any reason. Just trust me on that! So, dudes, if you want to really understand women a little better, start checking out the stuff that they check out. Start reading the books that they read. Start watching chick flicks. Skim through womens magazines and tell your lady about it. Discuss the issues with her. You may be surprised at the outcomes. It may actually help you to get more of whatever it is you might want from her. And isn’t that something that you would want? Worst case scenario, reading is just a good thing to do for it edifies, enlightens and exposes your mind, all of which is wise, healthy and positive. Peace ... DJLT.
