Suarez and Van Persie sure to provide fireworks

Manchester United against Liverpool is always one of the biggest games of the season and tomorrow’s clash between the two bitter rivals will be no different.Always an intense and emotional occasion, it should be an intriguing encounter with Messrs Van Persie and Suarez more than likely to have a say in the outcome.Van Persie has been an inspired signing for United and has quickly become their talisman this season.Suarez, on the other hand, just needs a sniff in front of goal and it could come down to which defence manages to keep these potent strikers at bay.Wayne Rooney, a Liverpool lad, will miss the game due to a knee injury so United will certainly be relying on van Persie who, with 16 goals this season, is the Premier League’s leading scorer. It will also be interesting to see whether Brendan Rodgers hands a league debut to new capture Daniel Sturridge who scored on his debut in last weekend’s FA Cup win at Mansfield.Sturridge, who signed from Chelsea, could forge a potentially lethal strike force with Suarez who was again at the centre of controversy with his handball goal against Mansfield which should have been ruled out.Another match not to miss will be Manchester City’s visit to Arsenal.According to reports, Mario Balotelli could be in line for a recall having not started a game for City since early December.City will be missing the likes of Yaya Toure along with brother Kolo and back-up striker Abdul Razak who are playing at the African Nations Cup.However, Roberto Mancini’s squad has the strength in depth to more than cope with the loss of these players. So, yes, this is definitely a crucial weekend for all the top sides although it’s still early days and I believe the title race will come down to the wire.Sure, United enjoy a seven-point lead at the moment but I think City can close that, particularly as the Red Devils have Champions League commitments on the horizon.QPR will be looking to build on their impressive victory over Chelsea when they take on Tottenham today.I’m sure Harry Redknapp will be keen to put one over on his former side who replaced him with Andre Villas-Boas at the end of last season.I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Bradford City and Swansea City pull of shock wins against Aston Villa and Chelsea the League Cup during midweek. What people must understand is that there’s always going to be giant killers and we’ve seen upsets time and time again over the years.I remember Hereford United beating Newcastle United many years ago a real surprise back then. When you line up on the pitch it is 11 v 11, and if I give 110 percent and you give 95 percent, nine times out of ten I’m going to win. This is something that players should really look at and bare in mind.
