It feels like it has been far too long since we last had a holiday weekend. I hope you all make the most of it, doing whatever matters to you most with whomever matters to you most. Here is the latest rundown of upcoming Bermuda events:* Sandys 360 is hosting a day dedicated to healthy family fun on Saturday, April 6 from 11am until 7pm. The Family Fun & Fitness Festival will feature live, local entertainment, fitness demonstrations, basketball games, arts and crafts, a scavenger hunt, Gombeys and much more. Admission is $5. Champagne & chocolate tasting celebrates the 60th anniversary of BSoA on Friday, April 12, and promises to be an evening of decadence. Michael Robinson from Burrows Lightbourn will present a selection of sparkling wines and champagnes in his own inimitable style and local chocolatiers will complement the bubbles with their own creations. Doors open at 5.30pm and the tasting begins at 6pm sharp. Tickets cost $70 for members or $75 for non-members. To reserve your spot, contact 292-3824 or bsoa@ibl.bm. Tasters will be entitled to a ten percent discount on 12 bottles (can be mixed) and receive a 13th bottle free.* The Family Centre invites you and the family on a leisurely cycle ride along the Railway Trail on Saturday, April 13 as part of Cycle For Change. The start time is 10am at the Evangelical Church on Mission Road near Modern Mart. This spoke-tacular event will raise pledges to give children a change. The registration fee is $20 in advance, or $25 on event day, and includes a T-shirt and goody bag. The top five fundraisers will win prizes. Registration forms are available at the Family Centre, Winners Edge, Bicycle Works . An artist competition and exhibition takes place at the BSoA gallery from Wednesday, April 24 until Tuesday, May 14. Members of the public are encouraged to go and view the art pieces and then vote their favourite to win the People’s Choice Award There will also be an overall winner and a runner-up selected by jurors. Art in the Dark continues the festival on Friday, April 26. A happy hour-type atmosphere has been organised at City Hall from 5.30pm until 8.30pm with live entertainment, cocktails for sale and complimentary hors d’ouvres. The City Art Festival Artist Competition overall winner and runner-up will be announced and prizes awarded. Art in the Park takes place on the grounds of City Hall the following afternoon. From 2pm until 7pm, you can expect live entertainment performed by children, a children craft area and a children’ play area with fun castles and face painting. The People’s Choice Award winner will be announced on May 15, at the end of the exhibition. The 2013 theme is A Classical Review as they will be combining classical and jazz music. The show begins at 7.30pm in the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall.
