The hard work is just beginning for Moyes

Yesterday was David Moyes’ first official press conference as the boss of Manchester United and it will be interesting to see how the first weeks go for him. There are a few unresolved issues he has to deal with including Wayne Rooney but if there is anyone who knows how to handle these sorts of things it will be the new gaffer. With that being said he is on the verge of stamping his seal on the team with the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona in what would be a massive signing for them. The player doesn’t want to be at the Catalan side, which is a surprise but players want to play more than anything else and if you are going to be sitting on the bench for the next few years then it is a good decision. He also brought in a new back room staff including player/coach Ryan Giggs and former United and Everton skipper Phil Neville who will bring experience of Old Trafford into the coaching staff.Giggs will be particularly influential with the Rooney situation because the pair are good friends and Rooney will listen to the old wizard. An interesting situation is the Edinson Cavani saga that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.Napoli covet him in the £50 million range and to be fair if you’re a striker that is scoring how he is in this current age of football then yes that is a good price for him.Gone are the days when players who scored goals are just strikers, but he has done it in Italy and has proven so if anyone can just up and move and continue t hit the back of the net it would be him.The best fit for him isn’t of any concern because good players adjust to the situation they are in and are still capable of getting the job done.I’m sure he is that good of a player that he should be OK.Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal may just be the solution they need because since Thierry Henry left they haven’t found someone who can score goals on a regular basis. He is very good player, scores goals and can link the play between the midfield and strikers if need be so it is a good investment on Arsene Wenger’s part.Let’s hope he sets the house on fire because I would really like to see them up the top challenging for silverware. With Jose Mourinho back at Chelsea, the striker dilemma won’t seem to go away as Demba Ba and Fernando Torres are being linked with moves away, and I feel bad for Ba because he hasn’t really been given a fair roll of the dice. When he was scoring goals at Newcastle everyone wanted him, but since going to Stamford Bridge he hasn’t been given the chances Torres has even though he tends to cause nightmares out there on the pitch.Maybe it was the fact that Rafa Benitez was Spanish and wanted Torres to be his number one from their previous days at Liverpool, but Ba needs to be shown some love and a chance to show that he can make an impact on the side.
