Catch a movie under the stars

A great opportunity to watch some recent blockbusters under the stars as the Moonlight Movie Series presents the Department of Park’s Movies in the Park on Friday, August 30 and Saturday, August 31 at the Botanical Gardens. From 6pm on both evenings, there will be DJ music, competitions, giveaways, food vendors and a KiddieLand. On the Friday, the first movie, “Epic” (rated PG), will start at 8.30pm, after the sun goes down, followed by the late feature, “Oblivion” at 10.30pm. On the Saturday, the family feature at 8.30pm is “Frankenweenie” (rated PG), followed by “The Great Gatsby” (PG-13) at 10.30pm. There will be recycling on site and free water for everyone with re-useable water containers. Admission is free and all are welcome. The first on Saturday, August 31st will be a two hour class on wines of the Pacific North West. From Oregon Pinot Noir to Washington State Syrah, they promise that you will find out everything you ever wanted to know about wines from the upper-left hand corner of the United States, after an hour-long discussion and presentation, you will have plenty of time to get to sample some of the best of them. The class will begin at 10.30am in their newly renovated warehouse on Bakery Lane in Pembroke (off-Serpentine Road, they can send directions if necessary).
