Control of breath leads to optimal health and vitality, as well as mental balance and clarity. Learning how to breathe properly is one of the keys to a happy, healthy and successful life. The Power of Breath, a six-week course starting at the Yoga Centre on Friday, March 13, will include Theory and Practice, Breath, Vital Energy and Health, Healing Visualisation, and Use of Breath in Meditation.

Foodies, rejoice, as the City of Hamilton will host the fourth Annual City Food Festival from Monday, March 16, to Saturday, March 21. Sample from some of Bermuda’s finest dining establishment, watch local chefs compete in a canapé competition and enjoy a day of cultural food delights in a festive atmosphere for both families and the distinguished food lovers alike. The Chef Competition kicks off the week of events with two preliminary rounds taking place on Monday, March 16, and Wednesday, March 18, from 5.30pm until 8.30pm at Bermuda Gas. Each chef’s name will be randomly drawn from a box for night selection, with a maximum of five chefs participating per night. The winner from each night will advance to the finals taking place at the Street Festival on March 21. All Chefs will be tasked with preparing three distinctly different canapés from a box of ingredients. The list of ingredients will be provided to the chefs five days prior and the actual ingredients will be provided 48 hours in advance. This is a ticketed event. Tickets are $35 per event or you can buy a passport for $60 for entry to both (March 16 and 18) and available from www.pTix.bm. Ticket holders will have the opportunity to sample the chef’s creations while enjoying complimentary signature beverages provided by Gosling’s, additional hors d’oeuvres and entry into a raffle draw for great prizes. From 5.30pm until 7.30pm on Friday, March 20, you can enjoy a Gosling’s Wine Tasting at the Gosling’s Wine Cellar, 9 Dundonald Street. Wines are quite complex and exhibit various characteristics which change according to the glassware they are served in. During the tasting, you will explore a variety of red and white wines while learning and understanding wine tasting notes. Tickets are $100, which includes a four-piece Riedel stemware set, and are available from www.pTix.bm. The finale will be the City Food Festival from 3pm until 9pm in City Hall Car Park on Saturday, March 21. Participating in the street festival is a cross section of restaurants, caterers, and food-related companies to create an unforgettable food tasting experience. More than a two dozen restaurants and bars Island-wide will be featured, offering a wide variety of foods and specialty drinks. There will be food demonstrations, fun-filled food competitions for the public to participate in, as well as the City Food Festival Chef Competition finals taking place live at the event. Come out and explore samplings of some of Bermuda’s finest restaurants and bars as they showcase their skills. An exciting day of activities is promised and residents and visitors alike are encouraged to come out and experience the City Food Festival. Direct from Harvard, the legendary Hasty Pudding Theatricals will be returning to Bermuda once again to perform their unique brand of student-written theatre (kind of like pantomime for grown-ups with an all-male cast). This is their 167th production and the show, Oops! Madrid It Again, will run from Wednesday, March 18 until Friday, March 20 at the Earl Cameron Theatre at City Hall. Showtime is at 8pm nightly.
