Poll or no poll, we stand on our record
The Progressive Labour Party acknowledges that poll results are a snapshot in time and that previous polling in Bermuda always underestimates the support for us. Three days before the 2017 General Election, The Royal Gazette published a poll showing the One Bermuda Alliance had an 11-point lead over the PLP; however, the actual results were an 18-point PLP victory.
The PLP remains confident that our government is delivering on the promises made in our 2017 and 2020 platforms to create a fairer and better Bermuda — and, through our legislative agenda, we are doing just that. We understand it won’t be easy, and we know that there may be apprehension regarding different initiatives, but in the end voters will judge our government on the entire body of work since the last election.
As prime examples, we are progressing education reform for our children’s future, increasing affordable housing via renovations around the island, advancing universal healthcare, facilitating the reinvigoration of our tourism industry with added flights and new developments, while reducing our deficit and paying down our debt. Our economy has recovered strongly from the pandemic, with more Bermudians working, unemployment lower than in 2019 and inflation falling.
Our recent Throne Speech demonstrates that the PLP government is listening to voters’ concerns as we focus on improving customer service in government. We understand there is still work to be done, and we remain committed to working hard to address the most pressing issues for Bermudians.
The PLP will continue to tell its story on the doorsteps, and our MPs will continue to demonstrate how the policies we’ve changed since coming to office have helped working Bermudians.
