Celebrate responsibly this Christmas season
As the holiday season gets into full swing with Christmas parties and festivities kicking off this weekend, I want to take a moment to encourage everyone in our community to celebrate responsibly.
The holiday season is a time for joy, connection and reflection, and we all have a part to play in ensuring that it remains a safe and enjoyable time for all.
I have spoken with the Minister of National Security and the police commissioner, and am pleased to share that steps are being taken to enhance police patrols as well as an increased presence across our community. These efforts aim to provide reassurance and help to deter incidents.
Here are a few ways you can help:
Drink responsibly: If you choose to consume alcohol, know your limits. Ensure you have a designated driver or a safe way to get home
Be considerate: Respect your neighbours and those around you by keeping noise levels reasonable and avoiding disruptive behaviour
Report unruly behaviour: If you see someone who may be in trouble or witness any antisocial behaviour, don’t hesitate to report it to the authorities
As we come together with family and friends, let’s prioritise respect for one another and look out for those who may be vulnerable. Whether hosting or attending an event, please be mindful of your actions.
Let’s make this season one of unity, responsibility and community spirit. Together, we can ensure a happy and peaceful holiday season for all.
Stay safe, and I wish you all a joyful and peaceful Christmas season.
