BIFF banks on Harry Potter to raise funds
THE latest Harry Potter movie is set to premiere in Bermuda next month as part of an all-day fund-raiser for the Bermuda International Film Festival (BIFF).
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second in the popular series, will be screened four times on November 16 - at 10 a.m., 1.45 p.m., 5.30 p.m. and 9.15 p.m. - at The Little Theatre on Queen Street in Hamilton.
BIFF is hoping to make the entire day a magical event for Harry Potter fans. In addition to the movie there will be a train ride, themed candy and a costume parade with awards going to the best dressed.
"Children, and young-at-heart adults will enter the theatre and step into a magical kingdom decorated by BIFFs special events team," said a BIFF spokesperson. "Kids are encouraged to dress as their favourite Harry Potter character, or in a Potter-themed costume, for the costume parade that will precede each screening."
Children will be invited to take a ride on the Hogwarts Express train, which will leave from Victoria Park. And special Harry Potter themed candy will also be available. Added Lori Rockhead, co-chair of the BIFF committee that arranged the screenings: "This is the perfect opportunity for children to not only see the latest Harry Potter film, but to also spend a Potter-themed day. We have already had bookings for the screenings which we suspect will sell out."
Tickets for the screenings are $20 and available, beginning tomorrow, at the Visitors Service Bureau between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Monday through Friday from noon to 2 p.m.
