Big rush for tickets to Keys' shows
IT seems the Bermudian public has been starved of Jimmy Keys' particular brand of entertainment in the years since the popular pianist and comedian left the island.
Shows planned for this weekend at Docksiders Pub & Restaurant sold at an unimaginable pace, forcing the event's organisers to stage a third at the same venue on Sunday night.
"Tickets for both nights sold out in literally two days," said Paul Sofianos. "As the demand was there, we decided to do a third night. It's going to be great. His show is much more polished that it was; (for the audience) it's going to be more like an actual show than simply a night out on the town."
Mr. Sofianos said he and Docksiders' owner Reid Young first brought Mr. Keys back to the island for a performance last year.
"He loves Bermuda. My wife Shannon and I have kept in touch with him and his wife since he left. We knew he'd love to come back and we knew the public would love to see him. And it's for a good cause as well. Part proceeds of the shows will be donated to a charity, although we don't know which one yet."
Tickets for the Sunday night show are available at Docksiders on Front Street at $35. Doors open at 7.30 p.m., the show begins at 8 p.m.
