WANTED: a partner to manage the Music Box East in St. George's.

Owner Eddy DeMello is looking for someone to help him pump new life into his store in the heart of St. George's.

The Music Box East is best-known for selling CDs, but has established a solid business in retailing larger appliances, such as stoves, microwave ovens and refrigerators.

"We started out selling CDs, but in time, the store has become something of a variety store," Mr. DeMello said. "No one else out that way sells appliances, so we have graduated into that business." The Hamilton businessman, who is a leader of the Portuguese community in Bermuda, runs the original Music Box on Reid Street and promotes concerts from time to time. He says he is too busy with other interests, such as real estate, to give his St. George's store the attention it deserves, and would like a partner to come along and take an interest in helping the store succeed.

"I think it would be a real opportunity for someone who is a go-getter, who would be willing to put the time in to manage the store and revitalise it," Mr. DeMello said. "I'm too busy, really, to give the Music Box East the time it deserves, and so would welcome an interest from someone who could act as a partner, or a manager, to move things along down there."

The Music Box East is located by the bus stop for Hamilton and attracts considerable traffic among passers-by, and parking at that end of town is usually easy to come by.

"I think that with someone who has the time to invest in making the store succeed, we could do really well," Mr. DeMello said. "My problem is that I can't be in three places at once, and I am so busy with other things."
