Painter Eugene hits the roof over cable
ENRAGED Somerset resident Eugene Brangman has given Bermuda CableVision the boot!
The 52-year-old self-employed painter became incensed when CableVision staff suspended a quarter-inch coaxial cable earlier this month above his premises, situated on the corner of West Side and Main Road in Sandys without proper permission.
Now, Mr.Brangman has demanded CableVision remove the cable, or else!
"I am going to cut it!" he warned. "When I decide to paint my roof I am going to go up and cut the wire. And I am thinking about painting my roof soon. I have the paint outside and as soon as the weather changes for the better I am going to do it. All I need is one good day."
Mr. Brangman, who forwarded a written letter stating his disapproval to CableVision earlier this week, described the dangling cable as an "eyesore".
In the new Bermuda, he said, respect for each other must be commonplace.
"They told my mother the cables were there on a temporary basis but my point is they shouldn't have done it without the owner's permission. They also had to go up on my roof to get the cable across. They said it would only be there temporarily but it's almost been four weeks. I don't want to be dodging wires when I go up on my roof," he said.
CableVision, meanwhile, did to return calls to the Mid-Ocean News this week.
However, it was later learned that a company spokesman spoke to the Brangman family, assuring the suspended cable posed no immediate threat to anyone and the company intended to remove it in the near future.
