Phoenix Stores celebrates 100 years
CELEBRATING 100 years in business, the Phoenix Stores is set to offer the community a week full of activities to mark the occasion.
Phoenix president and CEO George Grundmuller yesterday announced the week-long schedule starting on Saturday, November 2 with deejay Peter Lewis broadcasting remotely from the store, a children's magic show, face painting, a cake-cutting ceremony, beauty consultations, a competition and several give-aways as well as a 20 per cent store-wide discount excluding Bermuda books, prescriptions, cigarettes, newspapers and magazines.
Activities will continue through the week with a special Seniors Day on Wednesday, November 6 in which seniors will be invited to the Phoenix store for anniversary cake, coffee and 20 per cent off store-wide. Free medication reviews with the pharmacists, more giveaways and samplings will also be available.
The week-long event will culminate on Saturday, November 9 with the first 3,000 customers at the Phoenix Stores receiving surprise gift bags, face painting activities and two grand prize draws.
The 100-year-old company will involve its employees in the anniversary celebrations by awarding an MEF restaurant gift certificate to the best decorated store with the winners being announced on Friday, November 8. And full time staff will get an extra day's holiday next year. Mr. Grundmuller looks forward to sharing the celebration with Phoenix Stores employees and the community.
He said: "The community and our employees have made Phoenix Stores what it is today. Without them we wouldn't exist.
"We're looking forward to the celebrations and wanted to celebrate our 100th anniversary with the community.
"We hope everyone will stop by at least once during the activities. It's going to be a great week."
He added: "Our anniversary celebrations and gifts of 20 per cent off store-wide are our way of saying thank you to the community for supporting and shopping with us."
