Scott calls in experts to report on Berkeley

WORKS & Engineering Minister Alex Scott announced yesterday that he had called in consultants to evaluate progress on the troubled Berkeley project.

The three overseas experts, from the HR Lubben Group, will complete their survey of construction work on the new $68-million school today.

And they are to submit a report based on their findings to the Ministry of Works & Engineering.

The future of Pro-Active Management Systems Ltd. as the general contractor on the project appeared to be in jeopardy before a mystery benefactor stepped in last week to pay off sub-contractors, some of whom were owed six-figure sums.

A special audit report released by Auditor General Larry Dennis last November predicted the project would be months behind its completion target of this September .
