Sims, who qualified for the Nationwide Tour during the rigorous Q School at the end of last year in California, teed off at the 6,711 yard, par-72 Kooyonga Golf Club in Adelaide and went round the front nine in 33 and the second nine in 34.

After making par at the opening par-five hole Sims made a birdie on the par-five second and then birdied the par-three third. On the par-three seventh the Bermudian again made a birdie and finished the front nine in style with a birdie on the par-five ninth.
