These sweet 18 really are the cat's whiskers!

WANTED: A good home.

A colony of 18 cats, forced to move from their previous residence, is hoping to find some new digs ? 12 are hoping loving families will take them in, while the remaining six would be more than content to care for themselves if given the run of an outdoors tract.

Now living at a veterinary hospital with the kind support of the practice, the cats are between the ages of four and ten, according to Gill Clifton, a volunteer with the Bermuda Feline Assistance Bureau (BFAB).

"They have been one big happy family for many years. Some have created special friendships within the group and it would be wonderful if they could be adopted together," she said.

"All are healthy and neutered. They want the same as we all want, a nice place to spend the remainder of their lives. Twelve are adoptable. Six others are looking for an outdoor home. They haven't been socialised enough and we are looking for an (outside) area to house them."

Members of the colony include Tina and Tux, best friends forever; Alice, a very sweet black, white and orange lady who has Toby as her very best friend; Grace, a grey, white and ginger lady looking for plenty of love, a lap and a quiet life; George and William, possible brothers who get along swimmingly, and Jake, also known as 'Mr. Personality'.

"We are hoping to find accommodation," Mrs. Clifton added. "If no one wants them, we'll have to persevere.

"What we can do, if necessary, is incorporate them into other colonies. But that's a last resort. At the moment, we have to think positive."
