BERMUDA'S Federation Cup star Zarah DeSilva has got the better of Venus and Serena Williams - photographically speaking.

A picture of DeSilva shouting with an intense expression on her face during the Americas Qualifying Group II event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, taken by Mari Orro, was voted the best of ten pictures in the Fed Cup Photo Competition.

Among the pictures it beat was one of the US team, including Venus and Wimbledon champion Serena, celebrating their Fed Cup triumph, which placed third.

The citation on the Fed Cup website (www.fedcup.com) website states that the DeSilva picture "captures the spirit and competitiveness of the Fed Cup that exists at all levels".

In second place was Paul Zimmer's shot of Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova serving.

The Mid-Ocean News ran a story about the competition some weeks ago and the publicity may have helped Zarah's picture to win a few extra on-line votes.
