Blinded by the light

Dear Sir,

Every time I drive at night,I find myself wondering why, when I go to get my car examined, the inspectors take my car and test the height of the low and high beam of my headlights against a line on a wall.

I assume this is to make sure my lights are not too blinding to other traffic.

However, when I am out at night, every motorbike, without exception, has a headlight that shines right into my rear view mirror and blinds me!

Given the fact that almost every Bermudian rider seems to think that the safe distance behind a car is four feet (or less!), this can be annoying and dangerous. Surely the inspection for bikes should incorporate a similar test for headlights?
