Caribbean-bound ship brings in 144 new cars

The cable ship Sir Eric Sharp lies in Dockyard

The car ship Dresden arrives in Bermuda this Sunday, bringing 144 new cars on a journey to the Caribbean.

In addition to the cars, Dresden will be carrying 18 cases of spare parts.

The ship is arriving from Port Au Prince, Haiti and will continue to Nassau after it unloads.

The cable ship Sir Eric Sharp returned to Bermuda on Monday from Antigua.

Sir Eric Sharp will remain in Dockyard on station duty until further notice.

Yesterday, the Somers Isles arrived in Bermuda with 148 containers including five refrigerated containers, four boats and several bundles of lumber and steel.

Somers Isles is scheduled to leave Bermuda today.

The Bermuda Islander is expected tomorrow. The ship is carrying 133 dry containers and 22 refrigerated containers.

And the Oleander arrived from New Jersey on Sunday carrying a total of 180 containers - 142 dry and 38 refrigerated - as well as one Mafi, 18 cars, one boat and two flatbeds.

Oleander returned to New Jersey yesterday.

The cruise ship SS Norway made a brief stop in Bermuda last Friday for just half an hour.

The ship stopped off St. David's to pick up two technicians.
