Elliott Primary saluted for its committed to environment

Elliott Primary school has been hailed for its efforts in promoting environmental awareness and stewardship this week.

The Bermuda Zoological Society yesterday announced that the Devonshire school was the recipient of this year's Mary Winchell Award and its principal Carol Bassett is slated to be presented with the award at the Society's annual general meeting tonight.

"We are very excited about Elliott Primary school's commitment to our environment," said BZS's environmental officer Holly Holder.

Ms Holder praised the school's `Elliott Children Helping our Environment' programme and also the inclusion of environmental components in the school website. She noted that the school has installed and maintains three bluebird boxes and have designed and distributed posters to businesses to promote anti-pollution practices. Besides maintaining existing flower gardens, the school is also making new gardens.
