If you can't stand the heat

I express thanks to Mr. Orednduff, interim president of the Bermuda College for his kind comments about we Bermudians published January 4, 2002. I say the same thing about the off-the-cuff remarks of one recently departed Governor Mr. Masefield at the end of his duties here. He praised us for our efficiency among other things. I remember publicly advocating that he leave soon after being sworn in. This was because of his decision in the Coxall episode when Ms Pamela Gordon and Mr. Quinton Edness were ostracised by a number of UBP voters, also non-voters because they took a firm stand.

Dear Sir,

I express thanks to Mr. Orednduff, interim president of the Bermuda College for his kind comments about we Bermudians published January 4, 2002. I say the same thing about the off-the-cuff remarks of one recently departed Governor Mr. Masefield at the end of his duties here. He praised us for our efficiency among other things. I remember publicly advocating that he leave soon after being sworn in. This was because of his decision in the Coxall episode when Ms Pamela Gordon and Mr. Quinton Edness were ostracised by a number of UBP voters, also non-voters because they took a firm stand.

Yes, we Bermudians have benefited from multicultural importation but we certainly have had to tolerate a lot of berating, disrespect, crude jokes about us, mockery even of the Bermudian-born employer who did the importing, false stories spread around, and unfair letters by anonymous writers.

Mr. Orednduff is correct in saying Bermuda belongs to Bermudians. There are too many expatriates and Bermudians who still think this should not be. (sickening). I have always said those who are pereenially disgruntled about Bermuda should simply go and leave as be. I am still hoping for Independence. Earnest criticism still welcome.
