Last call for cruise ships

It's the final call for cruise ships to Bermuda this week as the off-season gets under way.The <I>Nordic Empress</I> will be the first to leave the Island today. She arrived yesterday afternoon in Dockyard for just one night, and will leave from there today at 5 p.m. with 1,179 passengers.

Next to leave Bermuda will be the Zenith, which arrived in Hamilton on Monday with 1,173 passengers. She shifted to St. George's yesterday and will leave tomorrow afternoon.

The Norwegian Sea and the Norwegian Majesty both arrived in St. George's yesterday with 1,304 and 1,310 passengers respectively. The Norwegian Sea shifts to Hamilton tomorrow before leaving Bermuda on Friday, while the Norwegian Majesty will stay in St. George's until she leaves on Friday.

The mega-ship Carnival Legend will arrive in Dockyard tomorrow and will be the final cruise ship to leave Bermuda this year, departing on Saturday afternoon.

Container ships will continue to come and go from Bermuda, with the Oleander arriving on October 19 and sailing yesterday. She was carrying 186 containers, of which 46 were refrigerated, as well as ten cars, one forklift truck, one boat on a trailer, five mafis and two flatbeds.

The Bermuda Islander will arrive tomorrow with 149 containers including 26 refrigerated, and leave on Friday morning. The Esso oil tanker Iver Experience is also due to arrive tomorrow and leave Friday after discharging fuel for Esso.

Last Sunday the cargo ship Pacific Swan had to make a crew change off Bermuda after a crew member was called home for an emergency. The ship stopped offshore at 1 p.m. and switched the crew member for another, then left again at 2 p.m.
