Put fishermen on the hook

Dear Sir,

With reference to the letter from "Annoyed" published on 21st July concerning the Big Game Classic fishing tournament, no, you're not the only one who is totally against this "sport". I also cannot see what is so heroic about dragging these beautiful and highly intelligent creatures (the marlins) about on a hook for hours whilst they desperately struggle to survive.

Personally, I think it would be far more entertaining to impale some of these "fishermen" on a hook and toss them into the water for a few hours and see how they like it.

Should any of your readers be interested, there is an excellent organisation dedicated to the conservation of marine wildlife, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. It was founded in 1977 by Captain Paul Watson, one of the co-founders of Greenpeace. Their website is www.seashepherd.org
