Motor tanker diverted
A 23,000 ton motor tanker diverted to Bermuda yesterday, taking on spare parts this evening off of St. David's.
The Netherlands Antilles-registered Taurus is expected to remain near the Island for a few days, replacing parts and moving on. No emergency was declared upon the ship's arrival.
Two other ships will sail Bermuda's sea lanes this week, one discharging cars on Front Street and another bringing oil to Island.
The car ship Victory Ace is expected to arrive tomorrow from Port-au-Prince in Haiti, discharging 104 vehicles onto the Front Street terminal as well as 18 packages of spare parts. The ship will leave for Nassau, Bahamas, immediately after unloading the cargo.
And Shell's MT Fusus will arrive tomorrow at the St. George's Oil Docks, discharging oil before shifting to Dockyard will to do the same there. The ship is expected to depart on Friday.
Otherwise, shipping remains on schedule with the arrival of the cable ship Skandi Hav at Penno's Wharf in St. George's on Monday. The ship is operating from Bermuda on station.
Cable ship Sir Eric Sharpe is expected to arrive today for a
two-day stopover before departing for a cable-laying assignment.
And the Somers Isles was expected to arrive yesterday with 110 containers in total, including seven refrigerated, 91 dry, eight flat-racks, four tanks and miscellaneous bundles of lumber and steel.
Whilst the ship was expected yesterday, delays could force the ship to arrive early this morning and depart for Florida late tomorrow evening.
The Bermuda Islander will arrive tomorrow morning with 125 containers including 96 dry, 20 refrigerated, six flat-racks, two open-tops and one CO2 tank. The ship will sail on Friday morning.
The Oleander arrived from ort Elizabeth, New Jersey on Monday. The ship unloaded 138 dry containers, 40 refrigerated, five maffi one flat-bed and one trailer with bulls.
