We can't keep selling players and expect to win!

"I am getting fed up with West Ham selling their players. It is getting ridiculous. If we had kept all the players we had we could have been a major force in the Premiership. But no, we continue to sell them. The latest is Anton Ferdinand who is going to Sunderland. In fact Sunderland have brought in some very good players this summer while we just sell them. And this is on top of having to pay out for Freddie Ljungberg who played a few games last season and then left. We also sold Bobby Zamora to Fulham this summer as well. Also gone are players like John Pantsil and Richard Wright while striker Dean Ashton has also been linked with a move to another club. I really hope not because we need him badly.

Apparently Hammers manager Alan Curbishley is the bookmakers favourite to be fired this season in the Premiership and from what has been going on I think that is a safe bet.

Just think of the players we have sold not that long ago ¿ Rio Ferdinand, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Jermain Defoe, Michael Carrick ¿ the list goes on and on. And these are all players who we brought up through the ranks.

I think West Ham fans are the best around but they are getting fed up. And I can't blame them. Just look what happened in the last week.

First of all we go to Manchester City and get embarrassed 3-0 and this week in the League Cup we needed extra time at home to get by Macclesfield Town 4-1. Macclesfield play in League Two! And they scored first and had Lee Bowyer not scored with 15 minutes remaining we would have lost. As it was we won 4-1 but the fans were jeering and I feel for them.

Last weekend we were are own worst enemies when Mark Noble was sent off ¿ first he received a yellow card for a silly handball when he grabbed the ball while on the ground and then shortly afterwards got a second yellow for a reckless lunge.

Brazil's Elano got two in City's win and that was us done.

I cannot see Curbs lasting long if this continues. We have, and still do, bring through some of the best English talent and then when they start to make their mark we sell them. It is really starting to get to me.

Meanwhile Roy Keane at Sunderland is making signing after signing. And they are good signings as well.

Keane has brought in Djibril Cisse on loan and I always loved him when he was at Liverpool. Unfortunately he broke his leg but has come back strong. It was Cisse who scored the winner last weekend at Spurs and I would snap him up in a minute. Sunderland have also brought in Teemu Tainio, Nick Colgan, Pascal Chimbonda, El-Hadji Diouf, Steed Malbranque, David Healy and David Meyler this season.

Now that I have got that off my chest, I am really looking forward to this weekend when Europe as a whole starts up again. The Italian and Spanish leagues begin and it will be interesting to see what happens.

ITALY

Inter Milan are coming off three straight Serie A titles and all eyes will be on new manager Jose Mourinho ¿ will he still be the 'Special One'?

Although Mourinho failed to entice Frank Lampard to the club from Chelsea he does have a very good team led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic. And Brazilian Adriano returns after his six-month spell in Brazil last season. Adriano had some personal problems last season and he will have to shape up under Mourinho who will not stand for any nonsense.

Obviously Juventus will be a big threat as will AC Milan who will not be involved with the Champions League this season. Milan have added Ronaldinho so they will have an all-Brazilian attack of him, Kaka and young Pato. They could be explosive and they will be determined to get back on top of the Italian league. And don't forget Inzaghi ¿ he may be getting on in years but he is still deadly and very smart.

SPAIN

Real Madrid will start this weekend defending their title while Barcelona will have a bit of a new look without Ronaldinho and Deco ¿ and of course their former coach Frank Rijkaard who won both the league title and Champions League with them has now left.

But Barca held on to Samuel Eto'o and hopefully Thierry Henry will have a better year. But their main man is Lionel Messi who is a joy to watch. He comes back to Spain having just won the gold medal with Argentina at the Olympics.

Real start this weekend by travelling to Deportivo. And all the players know that will be a tough match ¿ in fact they have not won there since 1991 which is remarkable when you think about it.

GERMANY

Germany, like England, kicked off their season a couple of weeks ago and new Bayern Munich boss Juergen Klinsmann is already feeling the heat.

Bayern are still winless and the defending champions face Hertha Berlin on Sunday.

Bayern drew their first two games, at home to Hamburger and at Borussia Dortmund, and that has not pleased their fans. But to be fair to Klinsmann he has been without some of his top players like striker Luca Toni and midfielder Franck Ribery. And although they have had striker Miroslav Klose he has failed to find the target.

PREMIERSHIP

As if Chelsea need more top players, it looks as if they are going to sign Brazil forward Robinho from Real Madrid before the close of the transfer window on Monday.

He will join Deco who has scored in both of Chelsea's games so far ¿ last week the Portuguese midfielder struck a superb free kick a few minutes before time to save the Blues against Wigan who fought very hard and were a bit unlucky.

The fans of promoted teams Hull and Stoke must be feeling good. Hull managed a 1-1 draw at Blackburn so now they have four points from their two games and Stoke managed a very, very late victory against a good Aston Villa side winning 3-2. It was an exciting match and I know the Stoke fans must have gone crazy!

Arsenal were stunned by their 1-0 loss to Fulham while Liverpool must thank Gerrard for his screamer at the end of their 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough who looked to have secured a point at Anfield.

One team I have no pity for is Spurs who have yet to win a point. Last season they sold striker Defoe, then this summer they got rid of fellow striker Robbie Keane to Liverpool and Spurs coach Ramos left playmaker Dimitar Berbatov not only on the bench but at home!

They have no strikers ¿ Bent is not bad but he can't do it all by himself. As for Berbatov, we all know he wants to go to Manchester United but he signed a contract with Spurs and he should honour it.
