The days of long lines are over at TCD

If you are a road user in Bermuda, chances are you have experienced the frustration of waiting in line at the Transport Control Department (TCD), even when your task is simple like transfer testing your bike.

However, thanks to the institution of a new technology, that lunch hour wait can become a thing of the past as you can now book appointments ahead of time from the comfort of your home computer.

TCD recently launched its new online service at www.etcd.gov.bm allowing road users to sign up and gain access to any of the new online facilities.

But there are some stipulations to utilising the site. You will not be able to register online if you don’t have a drivers or learners licence, your vehicle has not been inspected, is not already licensed, not registered to a valid assessment number, or if you have no valid insurance for the licensed period.

You will also need to have a valid e-mail address, a major credit card and a copy of your current insurance policy which contains your policy number and effective and expiration dates.

This online service also makes it easy for you to book appointments for practical tests for cars, cycles and trucks and to confirm appointments.

So while you still have to go to TCD to get your vehicle tested, you can skip the lines by making an appointment online before the time and cut down on having to wait.

TCD advises that only private cars, auxiliary cycles and motorcycles can be licensed online, while owners of vans and trucks still need to go to TCD for this service.
