Organist returns for church concerts

The first will take place tomorrow at St. Monica's Church, Pembroke when organist Peter Orme will make a return visit to Bermuda to play music by Handel, Bach and Mendelssohn.

The first will take place tomorrow at St. Monica's Church, Pembroke when organist Peter Orme will make a return visit to Bermuda to play music by Handel, Bach and Mendelssohn.

He will be joined by his fiancee, musician Ann Wright, who will play Three Romances by Schumann and a Suite by Benjamin Godard.

On Sunday, Mr. Orme will join the Geoffrey Tankard Foundation Chamber Choir in a concert at St. John's Church, Pembroke.

Mr. Graham Garton will conduct the choir in the Mass in D major by Dvorak, followed by an organ recital of music by Bach, Mendelssohn, Elgar, Pierne, Percy Whitlock and Louis Vierne.

Peter Orme studied music at Cambridge University where he was Organ Scholar at Sidney Sussex College. He went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music where he gained the highest awards for organ playing, accompaniment and composition.

In 1976 he completed a Master of Divinity degree at Trinity College, Toronto and is currently a priest in the diocese of Toronto. He maintains a small teaching studio and performs as often as he can.

Miss Ann Wright studied at Toronto's Royal Conservatory of Music and besides playing the flute, is an accomplished singer who has given numerous concerts in the Toronto area.

The two concerts have been organised by Father Brian Melbourne, assistant priest at St. John's Parish Church.

Admission is $17.50 and covers both concerts. Tomorrow's concert at St.

Monica's commences at 6.30 p.m. and Sunday's concert at St. John's is at 7.30 p.m.
