Cruise ship season is winding down
full voyage to Bermuda by the Horizon .
The giant vessel arrived on schedule at Hamilton last Monday with 1,216 passengers - slightly below her full complement, but quite good for this time of year according to her agents, Meyers.
She shifted to St George's yesterday, and sails today.
Bermuda will see her once more, on Monday of next week, when she makes a one-day stop. That will be her last call to the Island for the season.
Other regular callers were the Nordic Prince , which arrived on Tuesday at St.
George's and shifted to Hamilton yesterday. She brought in 979 passengers, good for her last-but-one trip.
The Meridian arrived with 790 passengers on Tuesday at Dockyard, and sails tomorrow.
The cruise ship Crown Jewel , sailing out of New York, arrived on her second visit to Bermuda with 792 passengers. She berthed at Hamilton on Monday and left the same day.
Another non-regular cruise visitor, the Crystal Harmony , anchored in the Great Sound yesterday with 946 passengers.
An unusual visitor to Ordnance Island on Monday was the RV Quest , a Canadian Forces research vessel on a two-day "R & R'' visit.
Turning to freight, the oil tanker Osco Stripe arrived at the Esso pier on Saturday and left Sunday having discharged her load.
Sunday also saw the arrival of the Oleander at Hamilton with 126 containers, 31 of them refrigerated, plus a boat and trailer. She left on schedule on Tuesday.
The Bold Venture called as usual on Monday at the USNAS base with supplies.
The Somers Isles also arrived Monday, at Hamilton, with 76 containers, 10 of them refrigerated, and 14 bundles of steel and pipe. She has a long turnaround this trip, and is not expected to leave until today.
The Bermuda Islander arrived Tuesday, a day later than scheduled, carrying 75 containers, six of them refrigerated, and a boat. She left the same day.
The Margranel , bringing Bermuda Cement's three-monthly supply of bulk cement, is due at the Ireland Island cement silos early tomorrow.
