Eight warships take berth alongside Dockyard

In an unusual sight, all the large warships will be berthed at Dockyard. "It will be just like old times,'' Malabar Commanding Officer Cmdr. Robin Bawtree said.
The task force consists of seven German and one Belgian warships, made up of three frigates, three destroyers, and two supply ships.
Their arrival was marred by the loss of a crew member from the Belgian frigate Westhinder during the crossing. An extensive search was eventually suspended for the man, who apparently went overboard about 800 miles northeast of Bermuda.
A memorial service for the man was planned at Dockyard today.
Local agents for the warships are John S. Darrell and Co. Ltd.
Also at Dockyard this week, the Second World War-era submarine tender USS Orion is to arrive on Saturday for a routine visit and remain until Wednesday.
The 530-foot ship, laid down in 1943, has been modernised to service nuclear-powered attack submarines.
Four cruise ships brought about 5,000 visitors to Bermuda this week. All four ships are now on their regular runs between the US and Bermuda.

Song of America , a Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines ship, arrived at St. George's on Tuesday. She shifted to Hamilton yesterday and sails today. Her passenger count was not available at press time.
Container Ship Management Ltd.'s container ship Oleander arrived in Hamilton on Sunday and discharged 173 containers, including 34 refrigerated ones. Loose cargo included equipment for the Tynes Bay incinerator project. She sailed on Tuesday.
Bermuda Islander , handled by Meyer, arrived in Hamilton on Tuesday and discharged 76 containers, including seven refrigerated ones. Loose cargo included one tank. She sailed yesterday.
The 120-foot motor yacht Sea Crest arrived at Penno's Wharf from Miami on Saturday on her way to the Azores.
The Dutch Antilles-registered vessel, which stopped at Bermuda to take on bunkers, sailed on Monday but returned to Ordnance Island on Tuesday due to steering problems.
The container ship Longtail Express arrived on Tuesday with supplies for the US Naval Air Station. She was handled by John S. Darrell.
