Other liners to visit this week were the Song of America , the Horizon , the Dreamward , and the Meridian .

Song of America , also handled by John S. Darrell, brought 1,401 passengers from New York. The Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines ship arrived at St. George's on Tuesday, moved to Hamilton yesterday, and sails tomorrow.

Horizon , handled by Meyer Agencies Ltd., arrived in Hamilton from New York on Monday and shifted to St. George's yesterday. Carrying 1,382 passengers, the Chandris Celebrity Cruises liner sails today.

Dreamward , also handled by Meyer, arrived in St. George's from New York on Monday with 1,382 passengers. The Kloster Cruises liner shifted to Hamilton on Tuesday and sails today.

Meyer also handled the Meridian , which arrived at Dockyard from Philadelphia on Tuesday with 1,092 passengers. The Chandris liner sails tomorrow.

After a $1.3-million refurbishment in Louisiana, the research vessel Weatherbird II returned to St. George's this week. The Bermuda Biological Station boat now has greater capabilities. (See photos, top right) Two more US Navy deployment vessels were anchored at Murray's Anchorage while the crews enjoyed rest and relaxation this week. The mv Second Lieutenant John P. Bobo and the SS Major Stephen W. Pless arrived on Friday. They were handled by John S. Darrell.

The Norwegian gravel ship Trones arrived at Penno's Wharf from Nova Scotia on Sunday with 11,460 tonnes of gravel. She was handled by Meyer and sailed on Monday.

Abeer 35 , a 115-foot oil rig supply vessel, docked at Ordnance Island yesterday and sailed the same day. The Panamanian-registered ship stopped for bunkers on her way to Europe from New Orleans.

The container ship Somers Isles arrived in Hamilton from Florida on Monday and discharged 65 containers, including 12 refrigerated ones. Loose cargo included two boats, one backhoe, 55 pieces of structural steel, and eight bundles of lumber. Handled by Meyer, she sails today.

Bermuda Islander , also handled by Meyer, arrived on Monday with 60 containers, including two refrigerated ones. She also discharged two loaded horse boxes. She sailed on Tuesday.

The Oleander arrived in Hamilton on Sunday with 137 containers, including 31 refrigerated ones. She also discharged a road sweeper for Government. Handled by Container Ship Management Ltd., she sailed on Tuesday.

In other shipping news, Meyer's freight and shipping department moves to Melbourne House at Parliament and Victoria Streets on Monday, leaving its present quarters in the bottom floor of the Waverly Building on Church Street.

The move is to make room for Meyer's growth in the travel business. The company recently started a new corporate travel section.

At HMS Malabar, no Royal Navy ships are available for the Queen's Birthday Parade this year, Commander Robin Bawtree said.

However, 43 members of the Second Submarine Squadron, including a colour guard, are flying to the Island by Hercules aircraft to lead the June 21 parade.

OLD AND NEW -- The increased hull space of the new Weatherbird II is the most obvious difference following the research vessel's $1.3 million refit at a Louisiana dockyard. The refurbished ship, pictured above and, below, as it was last year, contains a larger wheelhouse and more bunkspace, new test equipment, bow thrusters and a new winch. Station director Dr. Tony Knap says the veseel is a lot more seaworthy with nine more feet of hull below water.
