The Odessa Cruise Line ship could not get a berth in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, so cancelled the entire cruise which would have ended in the Azores.

The only ship visiting this week apart from the regular callers is the USS Kauffman , a Perry class guided missile frigate.

Launched in 1986, the Kauffman has surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missile capabilities making it more versatile than earlier classes of frigate.

The 445-foot frigate will be berthed at the Southampton Naval Annex from Friday until next Tuesday, but will not be hosting an open house.

Meyer Agency's three cruise ships called according to schedule. On Monday the Westward arrived at Penno's Wharf, St. George's with 766 passengers and the Horizon berthed in Hamilton with 1,298 passengers. The Meridian docked in Dockyard yesterday with 689 passengers.

Meyer Agency container ship Somers Isle discharged 100 containers last week before sailing on Sunday and the Bermuda Islander discharged 56, leaving Bermuda yesterday morning.

Bermuda Travel Tours cruise ship Nordic Prince arrived in St. George's yesterday morning.

Cunard Line's flagship the QE 2 , whose agent is BTT, berthed at Dockyard early last Friday morning for the day carrying 1,400 passengers from New York.

Among her passengers was an NBC employee who was treated to a round-trip passage on the liner by television comedian David Letterman. To qualify for the free cruise the young man had just 15 minutes to get to the New York terminal from NBC studios downtown.

Bermuda Containership Management reported the Oleander arrived on time on Sunday carrying a heavy cargo of 51 refrigerated containers, 130 dry containers, a mobile yard ramp, two cars, a Mack truck, a boat on a trailer, trencher and a backhoe. She left the Island yesterday morning.

Harnett and Richardson reported no shipping activity this week, but said the car ship Seven Seas is expected next week.
