ACTS OF KINDNESS

She gave all she hadDecember 15, 2008Dear Sir,

She gave all she had

December 15, 2008

Dear Sir,

In Mark 12:44, Jesus said of the widow's two mites: "She of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living."

On Friday, November 21 and Saturday, November 22, 2008, the Matilda Smith Williams Seniors Residence held its annual Tag Days.

In view of the state of the economy, I thank God that we were able to raise approximately $15,844. Some people gave generously while others, like the widow Jesus mentioned, "Gave of their want and cast in what they had.: We value all of them.

We thank all who helped in any way to make the Tag Days a success, especially the volunteers who gave of their time and you, the public. God has been good to us.

We greatly appreciate your assistance and look forward to your help next year.

Dear Mr. Slayton,

I am writing to thank you and your wonderful team at the American Consulate for choosing The Coalition for the Protection of Children as the beneficiary of your Annual Thanksgiving Service. Thanks to your efforts, over $1,000 was collected to assist needy families in Bermuda.

While we are always grateful for the donations we receive, the contributions made on November 27 are particularly gratifying because they come at a time when families both here and in the Untied States are struggling economically. This often means that it is an even greater sacrifice on their behalf to donate — but nonetheless they still do.

The kindness shown this past Thanksgiving is a testament to the giving spirit of Americans. At The Coalition we are mindful of how blessed we are to live in a country with a thriving international community who readily support charitable causes. We are grateful for your continued support.

May God continue to bless our two countries as we move forward in friendship and with respect.
