Twenty- four cars delivered this week

The <I>Oleander</I> dropped off 24 cars during its stopover to the Island this week.According to Sean Pitcher from Bermuda Container Line, the <I>Oleander</I> can actually take twice that many vehicles, about 45 passenger cars, depending on their size.He said: "Because the <I>Oleander</I> was in dry dock (for maintenance) for a month we advised all car dealerships that we weren't going to be able to deliver the cars until the vessel returned."

The Oleander dropped off 24 cars during its stopover to the Island this week.

According to Sean Pitcher from Bermuda Container Line, the Oleander can actually take twice that many vehicles, about 45 passenger cars, depending on their size.

He said: "Because the Oleander was in dry dock (for maintenance) for a month we advised all car dealerships that we weren't going to be able to deliver the cars until the vessel returned."

Many of the dealerships pushed back their delivery dates and now the shipping company is in the process of catching up, Mr. Pitcher said.

The vessel, which arrived to the Island on Monday at 8 a.m. was carrying 109 dry containers and 52 refrigerated ones, including a generator, a cement truck and a boat on a cradle.

It was docked in Hamilton and left yesterday at 8.05 a.m.

Meanwhile, the MV Somers Isles which arrived yesterday at 8.30 a.m. from Fernandina Beach, Florida, was carrying 186 containers including six reefers and two boats.

She leaves the Island to return to Fernandina Beach today.

The Bermuda Islander, which arrives tomorrow at 8.05 a.m. from Salem, New Jersey will drop off 107 containers including 24 reefers and a boat.

She will return to Salem on Friday at 8.05 a.m.
