Robert Andrews has been named as head of XL Capital's global ceded insurance operations.

Mr. Andrews will oversee XL Insurance's global ceded reinsurance operations and the placement of its reinsurance treaties. He will be based in XL's Hartford, Connecticut office.

David Duclos, chief operating officer for XL Capital's global insurance operations, said: "As a 30-year insurance industry veteran, Rob brings a wealth of experience to XL Insurance. His commitment, his knowledge and the relationships that he has built with the reinsurance industry are a welcome addition to our risk management team."

Mr. Andrew joins XL Insurance from the Liberty Mutual Insurance Group in Boston where he served most recently as vice president and manager of ceded reinsurance.
