Belco report steals the limelight
XL Capital and Belco Holdings Ltd. walked away with the top awards for international and local company annual reports this week.
And the Bermuda Biological Station received the top award for non-profits at the seventh annual awards presentation of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in Canada (ICSA) Annual Reports Competition.
XL, represented at Wednesday's Royal Bermuda Yacht Club ceremony by executive vice president Gavin Arton, edged out PartnerRe Ltd., ACE Ltd., and Max Re Capital Ltd. in the international companies division.
Belco Holdings Ltd., represented by CEO Gary Madeiros and spokesperson Robin Sidders, took the local companies award for the third time in the last four years.
Runners up in the local category were the Bermuda Monetary Authority, Bermuda Container Line and Bermuda Aviation Services.
Alison Shadbolt and Audrey Pope collected the trophy for the Bio Station in the non-profit category. Runner up in this category was the Bermuda International Business Association.
Judges for the competition were Robin Spencer Arscott, CEO and president of RSA services Ltd. and chairman of the Insurance Symposium Committee to the Insurance Advisory Committee, Andrew Doble, chartered accountant and funding director of Ardent Investment Management, Mark Smith, chartered accountant and partner of Deloitte and Touche, John Stout, chartered accountant and treasurer with Roche International Ltd., and Terry West, president of Windward Management, formerly marketing manager with the Bank of Bermuda Ltd.
