BSX Index tops 5,000

Bermuda Commercial Bank Warrants shares jumped 65 cents (65 percent) as 10,000 were traded on the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange yesterday on a day that saw five separate stocks moving upwards to leave the Exchange 45.81 points (0.92 percent) higher.

Shares in Bermuda Commercial Bank Warrants closed at $1.65 and were the biggest gainers of the day. Also in the banking sector there was trading of 314 shares in Butterfield Bank, which finished 50 cents higher at $57.50, a rise of 0.9 percent.

In the utilities sector KeyTech improved its share price by 45 cents to $16.00 on the strength of trading in 7,835 shares, representing a 2.9 percent.

Bermuda Aviation Services shares improved by 20 cents to $6.50 after 6,000 shares were traded.

The other mover came in the insurance sector. The exchange of 600 BF&M shares lifted the closing price by 50 cents from $18.50 to $19.00.

The total value of the 24,749 shares traded during the day was $206,862.50, lifting the Exchange to a closing level of 5,002.99.
